The black soldier fly larvae, a promising natural solution to fight coccidiosis in poultry farming

For millions of years, insects have been part of the diet of birds. We naturally put them back in the feeders!

Avian coccidiosis is the main parasitic disease in the poultry industry, responsible for high economic losses worldwide.

With the support of MUTATEC and as part of the PINHS project led by Bertrand Méda (INRAE) and funded by the Carnot Institute France Future Elevage, the use of protein and lipid extracts from #BlackSoldierFly larvae highlights promising anticoccidial activity on poultry.

Further research is needed to deepen the mechanisms of action and to confirm these promising results under in vivo conditions.
